How did it come to this… Slowly the eyebrows of the young woman furrowed into a small frown as she looked down onto the reptile creature before her. It all started two weeks ago. A weird electricity black-out had resulted a window to pop up on her computer screen with the words ‘I found you’ on them. Of course at first she didn’t understood the meaning of them, but when she looked outside the balcony of her apartment and saw ‘that’ there was no way she couldn’t tie the two events together. This creature had heralded the fact he had found her, and that meant he was searching for her.
“So let’s go over this again. You’re saying that I’m one of ‘them’?”
A bit of disgust in her tone when she said the last word the young woman crossed her arms beneath her chest as she gazed down onto the creature, obviously a Digimon. His name was Blackgabumon, or like Emiko called him ‘Kuroigabumon’, and oddly enough the monster could speak!
“Hai, Aneki is a Tamer, albeit not like those goody-two-shoes that protect the walls.”
A short snort was made by Emiko in return to those words. What a misfortune for a Digimon to have chosen her as a Tamer. Not only had she zero knowledge about Digimon but there was also a certain reason that made her a terrible choice…
“Wait a moment, why would you even pick me? I mean there’s millions of people here in Japan alone already, and do you even realize I despise your kin?”
The reptile laughed in amusement as they walked through the park, his clawed paws cracking the twigs he walked upon before he climbed onto the trunk of a severed tree and declared proudly.
“Isn’t it obvious. It’s Aneki's aura. I can feel it, your aura is as cold as ice, murderous even at times and yet despite it there is still an odd warmth inside it, it fascinates me! You remind me of Blackgarurumon, as cold as ice, mysterious like the dark side of the moon and clever beyond normal human’s comprehension. That’s why you’re my Aneki!”
This thing was beyond redemption… was he even aware of the nonsense he was blabbering about? Judging from the mischievous smirk on his lips it seemed he was pretty convinced she was some sort of super villain that needed a subordinate, him in this case.
“Listen carefully, even if I were to become your Tamer, do you realize that I would force you to destroy any of your kin? I don’t care whether they are good or evil, innocent or guilty they don’t belong in this world.”
The Blackgabumon clapped his paws together, cheerfully nodding in agreement.
“Perfect idea Aneki! I love bullying!”
Sighing in annoyance the girl sat down beside the Blackgabumon and tapped its fur-covered head.
“Not bullying you idiot… The Digimon invasion claimed the lives of my parents…”
The reptile tilted his head to the side in confusion, seemingly confused about the sudden change in the girl’s demeanor.
“Parents?”
Realizing that she might had said something confusing the girl thought for a moment on how to describe it better, a decision to finally use a meaning that the Blackgabumon would understand.
“Imagine if other Digimon killed that Blackgarurumon that you respect. What would you do?”
The reptile narrowed his eyes as he replied in a scornful tone.
“I’d kill them.”
Nodding her head in return Emiko rose up from her seat and took a few steps forwards, spinning around on the spot to face the Blackgabumon as she continued.
“See, now you understand. That is why if you were to become my Digimon the only thing you would know is conflict. The rest of our lives would be spend hunting Digimon.”
The Blackgabumon nodded his head eagerly, clearly getting more excited by the minute.
“When~ When can we start the carnage?”
Planting the palm of her hand against her forehead the girl sighed in defeat. There was clearly no way she was going to get this Digimon to rethink his decision to make her his Tamer.
“Fine… I give up… Just don’t do anything stupid, you hear me Yami?”
The Blackgabumon tilted his head to the side in confusion at the way he was addressed. What was a Yami, was it edible?
“Yami?”
Emiko nodded lightly, stepping through the lush scenery when they finally arrived at the exit of the park. She was going to visit her uncle at the headquarters of the Tsukino Trading Corporation and try to get his opinion about the matter.
“Yes, it means darkness in our language, a suitable name if you’re going to be the end of a lot of Digimon.”
The eyes of Yami sparkled with excitement at the declaration before he raised his paw, making Emiko blink in confusion before she sighed softly and shook it.
“Yami will become strong so that we can bully a lot of Digimon”
For a moment her lips curved up slightly into a grin at those words before she turned around and motioned him to follow. Honestly, ever since the Digimon Invasion her only source of comfort came in the aid of her concerned uncle. With her parents having disappeared during the invasion he took over the role as the head of the Tsukino Trading corporation, but also took care of her like a parent might have done. Following the girl the Blackgabumon was humming a cheerful melody before the two of them stopped near a bustling plaza. A lot of people were minding their everyday business but there was something about the plaza that unsettled Emiko, that thing being that she could easily spot several tamers and their Digimon among the crowd.
“…”
Despite her neutral expression the young woman couldn’t help but feel a bit disgusted at the sight. While she agreed with the idea of fighting fire with fire those tamers went a step further, often considering their digimon partners or friends. Didn’t they realize those digimon didn’t belong in our world?
“Aneki, I’m starving…”
Grumbling softly the Blackgabumon looked with clear interest at a hotdog vendor on the plaza. Please digital gods, let Emiko buy him some food!
