Gonna build that wall up to the sky So build that wall and build it strong 'Cause we'll be there before too long There were a large number of things that Izumi would have had trouble believing in the past as a child, and although the introduction of Digimon into her life and into the world at large had done much to suspend her disbelief regarding most things it was still nice to know that the world was far from done throwing surprises her way. Jello settled on her shoulder and finally sitting still for a change, Izumi simply stood in place as her mind worked to comprehend the sheer scope of what she was seeing. She had been in Kyoto once before, a long, long time ago when she had visited the mainland with her parents to scout out potential high schools, but the once familiar landscape had been drastically transformed in the time that she had been away. There were still a number of familiar landmarks - skyscrapers, the old Kyoto theatre among other things - but there was a new sense of surrealism to the place thanks to the enormous, several story tall wall surrounding the city's outer boundaries. More than anything it finally served to drive home the fact that the world was not as it once was - while Izumi had known it even before the attack on Aogashima, the fact hadn't really registered, as ridiculous as it might have seemed. The island was a small community, cut off from the rest of the world, and the fact that she had succeeded in drawing the attention of the Digimon raiders all those years ago meant that Izumi hadn't really lost anything - the years spent on the island hadn't been much different from school vacation, just far, far longer and much more lonely save for Jello's company. In any case, though, it did present something of an issue - how the fuck was she supposed to get inside the wall and into the city proper? From the vantage point she held atop a hill beyond the city limits Izumi frankly couldn't see any real entrance of sorts - most of the roads leading into the city had apparently been abandoned and built over, probably in favor of limiting the number of weak points in the massive barrier. More than that, there was the question of how to approach the wall to begin with. Less a matter of appearing to not be threatening, but more that she still had no idea how to deal with people in that kind of capacity. Izumi knew she wasn't exactly what most people might've called.... well, respectful, but more than that she had no idea if there were procedures or customs to be followed. Did she need documents? Proof of who she was? Even with that aside, what came next after she got inside the city? In a best case scenario Kyoto would just be a pit stop on the way to Tokyo where her family had supposedly gone, but somehow Izumi got the feeling it wouldn't be quite that easy. Well, not like it mattered, at least not in the here and now - take things one step at a time. First thing to do was find an entrance point, and she'd deal with those other problems then and there when or if they came up. Reaching up to steady the hair coiled around her shoulders and pat Jello, the In Training Digimon quivering happily, Izumi started making her way down the hill to begin the still lengthly hike towards the city's wall. @tag |
