ARTEMISIA i was in the darkness so darkness i became | sink me in the river, at dawn The afternoon was ending, and the sun was beginning to set. While she liked the night best of the times of day, this moment came in a close second. The light was receding, once blue caught in the reds, oranges and yellow of the setting sun, eventually mixing into a deep purple only to fade into the dark blue that was the night sky. She always enjoyed looking at the sunset from her favorite spot – the roof of her house; however, here, in Aokigahara Forest, was a close second. The view from the treetops – as dangerous as it was – was amazing. She should know, she had climbed up a couple of times already. This time, though, she stood with her feet firmly on the ground. Her camera in her hand, she took a picture of her view; looking up at the sky through the gaps in the many branches of the forest. It was one of her favorite ways to take a photo – not just to capture the scene, but from a different perspective. Trying new angles and settings and even lighting; it was one of the reasons she enjoyed the whole process of photography. It helped remind her that there is always more than one way to see things. Ladon said nothing, not wanting to interrupt his tamer as she was taking pictures. However, once her camera was lowered and the lens cap put back on, the dragonoid digimon began to speak. "Did you always come here alone?" He asked, eyes that resembled the greenest leaf in the forest focused on his raven haired tamer. Artemisia gave a nod, hesitant as it was; "I used to come here when I wanted to be alone." It didn’t help assure the digimon because he knew just what happened when Izzy was lone. His tamer and a wandering mind did not suit each other; not when it made her so closed off from everyone, especially him. "But you’re not gonna be alone again, because we’re partners." She didn’t know whether he was trying to reassure her or himself, but Artemisia appreciated his attempt nonetheless. "No, I suppose not." was all she could say in response. At that moment, it was good enough for her partner, for he didn’t answer nor bring up the subject again. The raven haired teen made to sit on one of the roots of a nearby tree, sticking out and twisting this way and that. Climbing trees had always been a hobby for the eighteen year old so she couldn’t say she was disappointed to learn there was a forest near their new house. As a matter of fact, she had begun to climb the trees near the edge of the forest to begin with, before slowly moving deeper and deeper. She never got lost though, for she’d know where she was once night fell and the stars came out. Ladon, she learned, enjoyed being outside much more than being cooped up inside her room. The dragonoid digimon usually just liked nature in general, with the fresh air and as much space as he wanted to do whatever he wanted. He was laying down next to Artemisia, as she looked through her pictures, relaxed when he felt it. Sensed it, really, because he was a digimon and they were far better at sensing things than most humans were. Luckily for him, Izzy was always quick on the pick-up. "Ladon?" Artemisia asked, as the Ryudamon turned his attention in a certain direction. There, that was where the scent was coming from. Digimon knew digimon, after all. "Someone else is here." He replied. To which Artemisia merely removed her attention from her camera and glanced in the same direction as him with a simple, ‘oh?’ It would be the first time she’s encountered another whenever she ventured into Aokigahara Forest.
