Zaknafain huffed softly as he tilted his head to the side, glancing at the pencil sketch in his hand of the flower that was in front of him. Trust his school to give him a bit of homework, he had been running all over for a while trying to find out where all of the plants he had to sketch were hiding. Today's trip was out to Tadasu no Mori Forest, and he had already gotten two or three sketches out of the way. "Pepper Breath!" Of course, that was when Spitfire decided to destroy the flower, making him jump up before he got in the way of the attack. "Spitfire!" he sighed, "I was still drawing that!" "Sorry Zak," she replied, closing her jaws. "I thought you were done." He grumbled, giving her the finger as he slipped his drawing into the rucksack he'd brought, packed to the brim with water and food since it was an all-day exploration. "You're lucky there's supposed to be more of those in here. And that Dimitri didn't see you do that." The eldest Westhaven sibling was extremely protective of his younger siblings, and as such, he tended to frown upon Spitfire, even if he allowed the Digimon in the house. He seemed to think she was nothing but trouble. Which she was, in a way, but so was her Tamer. "C'mon, let's go see if we can find another sample to draw." The Agumon grinned and scampered after him. "And I can keep practicing my Pepper Breath!" she proclaimed happily, showing off her teeth. She wanted to prove to Dimitri that she was strong enough to protect his brother and that she was a good partner for him, and that meant getting tougher. Even if Zak wasn't aware that was her purpose, but then again, what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him!

"So we are at the forest again." a light and clear voice said from somewhere above Quinn’s head. Walking through the path leading deeper into the Tadasu no Mori forest, the young man was observing the area and the trees surrounding them. Hearing his partner’s voice, Quinn glanced up at the bat-winged mammal.

"You say that like we are here all the time." He retorted, watching the Patamon glide from one tree to another. "We only occasionally come to Kansai. It’s a change of air."

"Quinn, you always go to the forests with that sword of yours, no matter if it’s around Tokyo or Kyoto." Keenan added, flying closer to his tamer and settling on his board shoulders, flapping his wing-shaped ears once before grabbing Quinn’s shirt for support. "You need a new hobby."

Quinn chuckled, and almost lost himself in a hearty laugh.

"And what do you suppose I should choose as a hobby?" He patted Keenan’s head as he talked and leaned down to avoid a low branch from a tree. "Should I collect stamps?"

"Well, I thought something like reading books or swimming would be enough. Stamps sound boring." Quinn laughed again and nodded in agreement. That indeed, sounded boring. He knew that the best he could do was to train himself and his partner so they could be a useful asset in the war when worse come to worst. He grabbed the string that was holding the wrapped up sword and the little backpack to his shoulder. Even now, he had the intention of training when he took the train from Tokyo to the Kansai region.

The light of sudden fire was what caught both of their attention, and made Quinn stop in his tracks. Fire like that wasn’t usually a natural occurrence, and it usually included a digimon. Quinn’s suspicion made him quietly step closer, even Keenan decided to stay quiet. But when they heard a conversation, Quinn was quick to assume there was a human with the digimon whose fire they saw.

When they were already near, it was the Patamon who caught a glance of the Agumon first, and hopped off of Quinn’s shoulder without a second thought.

"Oh, a friend!" Keenan chirped and flew off to greet the digimon and the stranger sitting on the ground. Quinn was just a little late stepping and calling after the overfriendly Patamon.

"Keenan, don’t bother them." The Patamon was already halfway toward the unfamiliar pair, and hovered in the air, with a confused ‘Huh?’ leaving him. Why not? Wasn’t it common sense to greet another digimon?

Quinn resisted burying his face in his hand. They didn’t even know if these guys were enemies or not.
