Zaknafain Westhaven
Zaknafain Vittorie Westhaven Sixteen Neutral Zak Courage Veemon, Agumon, Dracomon FACE CLAIM: Sora ANIMANGA: Kingdom Hearts GENDER: Male HEIGHT: Five feet, nine inches WEIGHT: One-hundred-forty-nine pounds APPEARANCE Zaknafain is an extremely attractive kid. At the age of sixteen, he's already hit puberty, and even if he's still going through his growth spurt, for the most part the height has tapered off to hover around five feet and nine inches. He's rather willowy for a male, but he doesn't mind that, comfortable with his body, and besides, he keeps it limber enough to be able to do what he needs to in order to get done what he needs to get done. A good portion of his one-hundred-forty-nine pounds is actually muscle, as evidenced by the strength that he will sometimes be able to display when push comes to shove, the teen strong enough to support his own weight from one hand for a few moments if he has to climb up something. His bright blue eyes are the color of the sky on a cloudless day, vibrant and beautiful, while his wild chestnut hair comes around his head in surprisingly soft tufts. Considering how much time he spends out playing sports and running around, it's a bit of a surprise that he's as pale in complexion as he is. As far as clothing goes, Zaknafain has quite the extensive closet, and he doesn't think anything of making ample use of what he has. He has a weakness for red and black designs, but he will also spring for white and blue as well. He prefers t-shirts and cargo pants since they have a lot of pockets, although he'll also dress up in all manner of other outfits, and the styles he has are all designed to make him look the best that he can. He prefers wearing Converses of some kind and color, though sometimes they will go a bit higher than others, and he will even sometimes scrawl his own designs on them in some marker. A lot of his outfits are actually selected by his younger twin sister, who is quite the fashion diva, and although he has final say, he trusts her sense and knowledge of his style to leave the shopping to him more often than not. Another favorite accessory of his is a pair of white or black fingerless gloves or a large handful of keychains attached to the belt loops of his pants. However, the one thing that he treasures most is actually the golden crown locket that he keeps around his neck with a picture of his parents, a prized possession and his way of keeping them in his heart, while the other side of it remains blank, waiting for him to be able to fill it with the photograph of whatever light-haired lover it is that happens to end up catching his fancy. HISTORY The Westhavens were originally a British family, considered part of the aristocracy, and it was this money that motivated them to relocate to America in the 1600s following a boom in tobacco production: Some members claim that the origins of the family lie in that they came over with the original settlement in Jamestown, though most state that the bloodline originates from some time after, albeit in Virginia – either way, it is an accepted fact that there was a Nathaniel Westhaven in the House of Burgesses at the time of the American Revolution, so they can at least claim residence by 1776, if not earlier. The Westhaven estate proved itself quite profitable throughout the years, and although they do not uphold the old Confederate standard as some will in the South, Michael and Adrian Westhaven, brothers, were executed by Union troops following the Battle of Richmond for refusing to betray their commander after being captured. Like many of the well-off in the South following the Civil War, the family’s finances were in ruins, but unlike many of their planter companions, the Westhavens were quick to see opportunity, and by avoiding the system of sharecropping that doomed so many of the others later on, they managed to keep most of their former slaves well into the twentieth century. The family did, however, adapt, and sensing the changing tides of the financial market, they avoided much of the speculation prior to the Great Depression and between their own intuition and sheer dumb luck that the banks their money was being held in didn’t fail, they were thus spared from losing all of their fortune. After the second World War, the family relocated to Japan to help the country rebuild and ended up becoming another part of the American military-industrial complex, specializing in telecommunications until the invention of the computer, at which point they turn their company specialty to the possibilities opened up by the new technology. The company, known as the Westhaven Group, became a small-time corporation which specialized in exploring cyberspace and its potential once the prospect first came around in the late 1990s. Zaknafain's father was the first one to come in control of such a thing, and it is about here where our story officially begins. Zak’s father fell in love with his mother when she was young, and when the Westhavens had their first child, his grandparents feared that the Japanese blood in his mother’s line would manifest itself into the newborn, these concerns straining the relationship between the generations. It was into this situation that Zaknafain Vittorie Westhaven was born into. He was neither the youngest nor the oldest of his siblings – all of whom showed little of his mother’s half-Japanese heritage, although they all learned to speak both Japanese and English since although the latter was more common, the former also came in handy for private conversations among mixed company – and his elder brother Balthazar Leon Westhaven, two years Zak’s senior, had been groomed for the position of CEO since the day he was born while his younger twin sister Lisbeth Natalie Westhaven found herself pampered and spoiled as she displayed a talent for singing from even a young age. In some ways, being relieved of such immense pressures left Zaknafain at an advantage, allowing him to be a bit more adventurous in his exploits and permitting him greater leeway than Balthazar received. In others, it crippled him horribly, forcing him to fight to escape his brother’s shadow for his parents’ attention, and when his sister became a child star, it was little surprise that she too soon became an obstacle for him to have to overcome. His parents prided themselves on being a family unit and overseeing problems personally, so the three children spent far too much time travelling to ever remain in one place long enough to justify enrolling in one school, despite the fact that they always claimed that Japan was their home. Instead, the Westhaven children were educated by private tutors, and while Lisbeth spent her time with the other children of the social elite and Balthazar secluded himself in his room to pursue his interests in science and math, Zaknafain instead chose to spend his time with animals. He grew up with a tortoiseshell cat, Patches, and a chocolate lab, Aztec, as his companions, though they often could not travel with him because by the time quarantine was up, the family would be ready to move on. The two animals were his only friends due to the sheer amount of travelling the family did, but Zak didn’t mind, instead lavishing Aztec and Patches with attention. Following Patches’ death when he was thirteen, however, his parents decided that they would attempt to keep Aztec with them, and so the dog began to accompany them on all trips but those to the most stringent of countries. When Balthazar turned eighteen, however, things changed. Suddenly there was another member of the family who was old enough to be the man of the house and keep an eye on budding idol Lisbeth and young Zak, who was beginning to show quite a talent with interaction and diplomacy. His parents thought that he would make an excellent politician one day, and when the eldest sibling offered to let the twins stay with him in his apartment in Japan rather than having to follow the elder Westhavens around, the two leapt at the chance. Lisbeth was more excited with the opportunity to finally springboard a career as a diva, while Zak became hopeful for a chance to make some permanent friends and attend an actual high school. Being fluent enough in Japanese, he opted to enroll in the local public school rather than some international academy or with private tutors, and there he has remained, gathering his people skills and coming into himself more than he ever had travelling the world. He’s in Japan now, and he’s here to stay, forever if he’s allowed to.
