"Oh come on Charlie, please?"

"I said no!"

Was there ever a time where the two of them weren't bickering? Sometimes Lee wondered if people passing by misunderstood their relationship as a poor one. Personally, she rather enjoyed these little fights with her Partner. They were beyond entertaining, proven by the sneer on her face. Well, okay, maybe they were only entertaining to her - but she was arguably just as important as Veemon, right? Right? That meant that playing friendly fire was totally, absolutely, positively... acceptable.

"No, no, no, no! I will not!

"What? Are you scared Charles?"

The Rookie Digimon in question seemed to inflate with heated rage at the accusation, and at once crossed his stubby little arms and shook his head, "Of course I'm not scared! I'm a Digimon! I'm not scared a nothin'!"

"Good. Then you'll have no problem jumping out of the bushes and scaring those two lovebirds... Come on! It'd be hilarious! They're so distracted trying to practically eat each other that they're gonna get a good scare!"

"Eugh... why do humans do things like that?

"Because it's fun," Lee responded, simply shrugging her shoulders.

"But why do I have to scare them? Can't you do it? I don't even wanna get close to... that..."

Heaving a heavy sigh, Leanne explained once more that she was an adult and couldn't get away with pranks Scott free like she used to. More than likely, she'd get a nice smack across the face - but if a Digimon did it - they'd simply just go running for their lives. Simple, really.

Grumbling, Charlie the Veemon made his way into the bushes. Why had he agreed to take a walk in the park with his Tamer? Nothing good ever came of the 'bonding activities' she wanted to do with him.

Chase and Parfait had found a nice tree to relax and whisk the day away, chase was smiling petting her little Salamon and imagining all the adventures to come when she saw someones backside sticking out of a bush. she sat Parfait down and started to walk towards it she looked back at the disheveled Salamon and asked

"Parfait! What does it mean when adults hide in bushes?"

The Salamon's ear perked as she looked up at the curious Chase yawning her cat dog nap interrupted.

"Usually they don't want to be found, why do yo-"

Chase was already halfway to the hunched up Women and her blue friend, the two noticeably bickering.

"Maybe you shouldn't go over there... Ignored once again."

"Hello!"

Chase smiled happily at the two in the bushes, Friends! that's what her adventure needed. Friends, comrades, countrymen. She needed someone to enjoy the journey with. Plus this girl has a cute little partner.

"My name's Chase, What are you two doing in this bush? are you hiding from someone?"

"Yeah the law maybe"

Parfait sighed she hopped up and caught up with her tamer jumping up into her arms.

"Parfait don't be mean to our new friends"

"Fiiine"

Chase looked back to the two and Smiled

At long last, it seemed Charlie was ready to take on the challenge at hand. Lee was completely focused on the two targets ahead of them, "On my mark."

"I can't believe I agreed to this..."

"Three."

Little did the duo know that they themselves were about to be in for a surprise.

"Two."

"Do I really have to?"

"Yes now get your ass over there- one! GO!"

"Hello!"

It was safe to say Leanne Sangster was not expecting the greeting. Letting out something of a yelp, she jumped about ten feet (okay that's an exaggeration - her tiny legs couldn't take her too far) into the air, "Holy shit! Charlie! Attack! GET IT OFF ME!" And needless to say, the couple who she had targeted for the prank noticed the ruckus and promptly took their leave. "Wait--! Shit! Balls! Charlie this is all your fault!"

"How is it my fault!? I'm not the one that snuck up on you!"

Only then did it dawn on Lee that the perpetrator of her little plan was standing behind her. She whirled around, expecting to see some asshole about five times her height... only to realize that there was a child standing by her, smiling innocently... cheerfully. Dare she think that this little girl was... cute even? Lee typically was not a fan of children, but anyone who did their hair up in a cat ear shape was begging to be pet.

"Aw... Hi there."

Chase gasped at the girls reaction

"Y-you swore! you're not supposed to swear!!"

"Chase this is why you don't scare people"

"I-I didn't mean too"

She looked back to the lady, tears welling up slowly in her eyes

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you"

Parfait nudged her way out of Chase's arms and on to the floor and over to the blue Digimon

"who're you supposed to be?"

Parfait started to sniff the Veemon

"You smell like smoke"

"I don't think we should hang out with these people Chase"

"Aw... Hi there."

"Parfait! that's not nice. You don't even know them. Plus she seems really nice"

Chase changed her view back to her new friends

"I'm sorry. She's just over protective. My name's Chase and that's my partner Parfait What's your name?"

... I'm not Over protective...

the Salamon grumbles

Lee quirked a brow at the strange little girl in front of her. Hadn't she ever heard someone swear before? To be honest, Leanne had the language of a sailor. Swearing was like second nature to her. She hadn't even really realized she'd done it, "Kiddo, I was swearing before I was your age. It's just a word."

Though Lee knew for a fact that words held a lot of weight. She knew the pain of that firsthand, in fact. But now was not the time or place to go back on her word. After all, she was the big bad adult in this situation. She had to be right... right?

Of course, then Chase had to go and nearly start crying. Lee was never good with crying anything - puppies, kittens, children, other adults. Hell, she was bad when she herself was crying. Honestly, it was just one of those things that nearly put her into a panic - what the hell was she supposed to do to stop it? "Hey now... Don't cry. You didn't scare me." Much.

"Yeah right," Charlie murmured. "Not scared my blue fuzzy butt!" Thankfully, Lee seemed to take no notice of his little insult, preoccupied in trying to get the girl to stop being upset... and so the Veemon turned his attention to Parfait. "A-are you... are you sniffing me? Cut that out! That's weird!" He crossed his arms and turned his nose up. "She's the one with the gross smelling smokey sticks! Now I smell bad too, Lee!"

"Stuff it Charles."

"Choose a name and stick with it I can't keep track of both Charlie and Charles!"

"I'm Leanne. Call me Lee!" she exclaimed at last. "And this lying blue devil is Charlie."

"I'm not a liar!"

"Pants on fire. I wasn't scared."

"I don't even wear pants!"

"Good! They're overrated!"
