Leonard von Himmelreich Twenty Noble Leo, Leon Torment All FACE CLAIM: Fuwa Mahiro. ANIMANGA: Zetsuen no Tempest. GENDER: Male. HEIGHT: 5 feet 8 inches. WEIGHT: 167 pounds. APPEARANCE Just by looking at Leo, people can quickly assume he is a rebellious guy. Having average height and body-shape, his strong personality is showing right through the way he keeps and dresses himself too. His dirty blond hair is messy, layered and usually kept long enough to have a nice style and sometimes cover up his reddish brown eyes. He has some natural muscle on him gained through the street-fights he was often doing, but nothing overly buff or disturbing. He is more agile and flexible than actually strong. Without clothes on, occasional bruise marks or small, healed scars can be seen on his body. According to him, they are the remains of said fights... Even with his clothes, it’s obvious he doesn’t always make things simple. He usually wears a simple red button up or a T-shirt under a yellow and black colored jacket, which hood is lined with soft white fur. He likes to dress in layered clothing to make sure he is never cold. His jeans are almost always tucked in a pair of brown boots. Of course he has variety, but jackets and the punk-ish style is always a given. Somehow, he doesn't like to make things simple even if it's about appearance. He wears necklaces, earrings and rings for the same reason - to stand out. As a person, Leo is a bit too much to handle sometimes. He is more than a handful and equals two or three others. Because of his strong and forceful personality, he often enough scares others away, though he has his good qualities – though only a few. If someone was brave enough to walk up to him and initiate a conversation, no matter the topic, they will gain a leech that they won’t be able to shake of for a day at least. A week, if they are unfortunate. He is really outgoing and social, so he can hold a good conversation, not to mention that he has a bit of wit in himself to always be able to reply without a "whatever" in the sentence. He is quick on the uptake, and can easily figure things out on his own without needing to rely on the opinion of others’ for it. He can read people rather well and will use that to his advantage if needed – usually to get what he wants. As much of a social butterfly he is, he always has his own interest in front of anything else. He had learned that there is no other way to get what he wants than to always work for his own gain, so he is doing exactly that – he won’t share, and won’t do anything if he can’t gain a profit from it. It’s not really a nice trait, but that is how he managed to live his life. Maybe if he can consider someone important enough in his future, he might be able to drop this selfish side of his. If he likes something, he likes it very much, affectionately and passionately, and that goes for people too. God save the person he falls in love with. He is much like a cat in many way. If he wants something, he goes and gets it. If others want something from him, he will clam up and chase them away unless he gains something from it as well. He won’t share things about himself, and hates to be asked about his past and family the most. One question can change his mood from best to worse and makes people wonder if he has some anger-issues going on. Like some rebellious teenager, he lives for the present and escapes from his problems into the pushy and energetic life he managed to shape outside of his own home. The reason he usually forces himself on others and makes them take him home – like a stray cat – is mainly because he never wants to go back to his own house where his parents are. He would much rather live on the streets and care for himself, though even he knows he has to show up from time to time, if only to run away again. He learned to take care of himself. It’s another thing that he loves the excitement of a fight and taunts others into having a match with him just because it’s fun. Even if he gets beat up badly, he would go back to have a rematch and go at it again. He isn’t a sore looser, so the fact whether he wins or looses matters nearly nothing – he just wants to forget his problems by seeking either danger of human warmth. That is his way of running away and hiding from his problems, all the while getting stronger little by little. Leo, as his name also suggest, was born and raised in Germany for most of his life. His childhood was, to say the least, a bit unfortunate. He was born into a relatively wealthy family, but from an affair on the wife’s part. The couple was actually happy, and seemingly had no problem with each other, so the husband didn’t understand how his wife could have an interest in another man. The wife just wanted another lover. She was living a happy and satisfied life with her husband, but she missed the passion that a lover could give her. She started regretting to cheat on her husband though, after a while, since she was genuinely happy. That made her lover angry, and that is when the child was conceived... They decided to keep the child, but the couple was, of course, never the same as before. Leo’s birth happened without problems, and the couple was more or less happy again. That is, until the child started to grow and didn’t resemble his actual parents – he took after the lover the most, which made many of the couple’s problems resurface. At first, it was just a bit of neglect on the husband’s side, and much anxiety on the wife’s side. After a while, she was also unable to look at the boy with the same love as she did when he was a baby, and he didn’t understand any of the change – he was never told he was the son of another man. Of course he asked his parents, first his mother, but he didn’t get a straight answer. When he turned to the man he thought to be his father, he got the first hit from the man. Leo was around seven years old that time. The first was a shock for the child and the parents too, but many followed, and Leo had lost count of the times his father beat him. The man had turned to alcohol to ease his stress, and many times did he raise his hand against the boy in a drunken frenzy. That was how Leo learned the truth about his birth as well. That he was the sinful child of another man, and that it would have been much better for the husband and wife if they decided on abortion instead. Being rejected by the people he was raised, Leo felt incredibly alone in the world, heartbroken and without a place to truly consider home. His mother tried to protect him many times, but the husband didn’t want to hurt her. He decided to beat the boy when he was sure the wife couldn’t interfere. He drove off his stress on the boy who didn’t have the will to raise a hand against his “father”. Leo took it, and endured. To spend as little time at home as he could, Leo escaped to the streets, joining other youngsters in their adventures and fights to try and forget, even if for only a little time, what would await him at home. He seemed to be pretty good in fights, and he was really hard to bring down – due to the beatings, he gained an unwanted resilience and tolerance for pain, which ended up being useful on the streets. He was not grateful for it though. The start of the invasion and war reached his country as well, and he heard about the incredible destruction that the creatures called digimon brought. However, the monsters and the tamers, the humans who were the partners of these monsters, always fascinated him. He was still a child, impressionable and full of wonder, so his first thought was that he wanted a digimon himself. His family was trying to stay out of the war, only giving little supplies to the military as a form of business, nothing else. Digimon were never seen in the house, not the father, nor the mother ended up being tamers. At that time, Leo hoped it was not a thing he could only inherit. Or more like he hoped he could inherit it from his real father, if there was the chance he was one of the tamers. Nearing the age of sixteen, his days gained a certain pattern. School, studying, streets, fighting, home, beatings… He never fought back against his father and tried to hide his wounds from others in school as well. He started working part time as soon as he was accepted at a supply shop in the city and wanted to gain enough money for himself to finally move away. It was that time when the family’s second child was born... The real child of the couple. Leo felt indifference toward his little brother – he was glad he didn’t hate the baby at least – and thought that his father might cut him some slack after having a child from the woman he loved despite everything. He couldn’t have been more wrong. It had become a habit by that time that his father would beat his stress into the boy. He still tried to endure, and didn’t tell anything to his mother especially after she was so happy having her baby be born. Leo was around eighteen, when he started to get fed up with everything. He spent most of his time on the street, and one day, they started talking more about the digimons with the guys he was usually hanging out with. When one of them showed up with his partner by his side, Leo felt a tiny bit of envy, but he couldn’t stop his curiosity from talking. He asked his friend where and how he met the creature. He was told the digimon showed up when another attacked the boy to save him from harm. Leo finally saw the opportunity. The possibility of the power he might gain from having a digimon by his side was more and more welcoming to the boy. He decided to venture out – closer and closer to the unsafe terrain of the city and the walls. Maybe, just maybe, if he was in danger and was attacked, his partner would also show up to come to his aid and save him. Maybe then, he could have someone with him. Maybe then, he could pay everything back... Of course, it wasn’t as easy as he thought. He had to hide from the military personnel that patrolled the area, and even when a digimon showed up, it was attacked by the soldiers right away. There was no way around the security, not from the outside, not from the inside. Asking to be let out was of course, impossible. But how else would he be able to get a digimon himself. He wanted one. He wanted one so bad he was almost blinded by his own desire. He spent three whole days away from home, searching for his partner, never giving up, all the time wondering where it could be. If he even have one to begin with. He was wondering if he was really alone, if not even a digimon wanted to be with him. But he quickly dismissed the thought – for some reason he could feel his partner out there somewhere. In an unexpected turn of events, he was attacked by a digimon, a much smaller one than those attacking the walls. He suspected it was still young, and the only reason it could sneak into the city unnoticed was its size. Leo even wasn’t sure he would have noticed it if it didn’t attack him. But it did, and he was barely able to dodge the monster’s attack. He had no chance against a digimon, he knew it, but he did the only think his survival instinct told him to do – hit back. It was reckless, it was suicidal, but it was enough to surprise the digimon enough to make it stop for a moment. That was the moment when a little device materialized between Leo and the attacking digimon. As a joke played on his life, the digimon attacking him ended up being his partner. Leo couldn’t be happier. His first thought was that he would be able to fight back against his father now that he was “superior”. As soon as they got to know each other with his partner, he felt already stronger than a normal human, even though it wasn’t his own strength. He felt the power, and wanted nothing else than revenge anymore. He went home with the intention of killing his “father” and finally end it all. Back home, he was welcomed by a rare sight: his father playing with his two years old baby brother, his mother watching them. It was the picture of a perfectly happy family that drained him completely. He couldn’t kill, and couldn’t end it. His digimon stayed outside of the house, not showing itself in front of his family. His mother asked if he was all right, since he was out for three days, but he only replied with an “of course” before turning around and running away again. He felt empty. He wasn’t sure what he was supposed to do. He might have cried out in the rain that day. His digimon might have been the only comfort he had, as confused as it was. But the beatings didn’t stop. He didn’t introduce his partner at first, knowing that his family wouldn’t want the creature in the house. Leo didn’t stay much around his family anyway, but he still wanted to have a few nights in his own bed before moving away. After this though, he gained the habit of making others take him home like some stray cat, so he always had a place to stay and a reason not to go home. He didn’t want to see that “happy family” back home, which seemed so perfect without him around. After some time, he got so used to staying at other people’s home that he wasn’t even sure if he should bother with moving away. He calmed down somewhat and never again showed his weak side to others, even though he still had to endure his father on the rare occasions he was home. He kept his digimon hidden until the day he could finally move – to Japan, to the middle of the war, where he could be of use. Now the only problem he had was the language barrier and the fact his digimon was about as much of a troublemaker as he himself.
