Melina Ishigami
Melina Sakurai Ishigami fourteen Noble Mel, Ishigami Strength Vaccine/Data - Digimon Selection FACE CLAIM: Houki Shinonono ANIMANGA: Infinite Stratos GENDER: Female HEIGHT: 5 foot 3 WEIGHT: 95 lbs APPEARANCE Melina's most notable feature is her long brown hair, which is almost always tied back with a ribbon. Her eyes are an amber color, and are often hard and cold. She is usually wearing skirts that fall to mid-thigh, or shorts. She saves her long clothes for cold weather, and isn't normally one to keep up with fashion. She doesn't have any scars, or piercings, but she does have a dragonfly-shaped pendant that she always wears. It was in her mother's jewelry box, found after the Drimogimon-earthquake. She has a D-3 Digivice that is white and sky-blue, which she usually keeps in whatever bag she's carrying at the time. She does have a belt pocket to put it into, but she doesn't use that too often. Yet. You know the stories you hear on the news about the families that were torn apart when the Digimon first showed themselves five years ago? Yeah, I'm one of those cases. I don't really care about these Digimon, but I know that we have to stop them from taking over our world. Then again, I guess I really just want to make sure my little brother stays safe. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll start at the beginning. I guess I had a normal childhood. I mean, dad was always working, even though we live in the Hokkaido area. It's not like Tokyo, where there's always something going on. We lived in a small town, just me, mom, and dad. Dad worked with the police, but he had a desk job. Occasionally, things would happen in the middle of the night and dad would get called out. Something like someone's shed catching fire or something. That happened more often than you'd expect, though no one was ever hurt. Dad just had to go there so he knew what to put in the paperwork. He always says you can never completely trust the words that come out of a person's mouth, especially people who are in emotional distress. That one always took me a while to understand. But anyway. I was four when my little brother was born. This was ten years ago. Are you keeping up with me? By that point, I was an active kid. I loved to go play with my friends on Saturday afternoons and on Sundays. But then something happened. I was walking home from my kindergarden school with a friend and her mom when I thought I saw an abandoned doll move. It was really cute, a green and white bunny with really long ears and a horn on its head. It smiled at me, I know it did. Then, I started helping out my mother. I helped out with what chores I could, being only four at the time. It was pretty peaceful at home. Mom always said the stuff on the news would never happen to us. And then, when I was nine and my brother five, Milleniummon came on TV. I didn't really understand him, but I could tell that the only thing between us and total destruction were these so called Digimon Tamers. And then, just a year later, a huge earthquake hit our little town. I was in my fifth year of elementary school, and my brother had just started his first. Dad was in Tokyo for a business meeting, so mom was home alone that day. Of course me brother and I walked to and from school together, and the earthquake hit right after we crossed the train tracks. Oh, there's a train station in town, it's how everyone gets anywhere from our tiny place. Anyway, the tracks got ripped right out of the ground! So we ran home once the quake had stopped, and there were so many broken buildings... There was a huge hole in the ground, kind of like the ones that are made from drills, and there was a kid with a weird looking animal standing next to it. I swear I heard him say something that sounded like Drimojimon or something. But I didn't stop to ask. We got home only to find that we didn't have one. Our home had been destroyed by the earthquake. And, the next day, they found mom's body. The earthquake had caused the house to collapse with her in it, and it killed her. Dad was already back by then, but he wasn't the same. Our house was rebuilt, but nothing was the same any more. I was the one doing the cooking, though I had to start with really simple things. I was ten and using the kitchen the way mom was supposed to... I know loosing mom changed me, too. I was always a person who could easily become friends with anyone, but I started distancing myself from the people at school. I didn't want to be hurt like that again. Dad started drinking more, but not enough to get him fired. He still worked, but I was doing almost everything else. And my brother, thankfully, was so young that he doesn't really even remember mom. Of course, we have a little shrine for her in our house, but he doesn't remember her voice at all. He's nine now, I'm fourteen. I don't really have any friends, though people call me popular because they think it's cool to be so unemotional. Whatever. I don't care anymore. One day, sometime last year, dad came home completely wasted and started raging at us, throwing empty bottles everywhere. The next morning, when we were supposed to go to school, I took the money that dad stored under his mattress, packed both myself and my brother a bag, and left dad a note saying we were going to Tokyo to live with our aunt. It's been almost a full year, and we go to school in Tokyo now. Dad hasn't bothered to contact us, and Tsubaru doesn't ask questions. He's a bit quieter now too, though. I haven't tried to make any friends. Dad betrayed us by trying to hurt us, and I wouldn't be able to deal with that again. I just started high school, and my brother is in his fifth year of elementary. I actually found this thing on my bed, I'm not really sure what to call it... But I've heard some talk around my new school about the Tamers, and something called the Original Digidestined... Maybe I'm one of the Tamers? Nah. If that were true, why would it have taken so long to find me? And who's my partner? She's basically a cold and lonely person now, though she still has a really caring heart. She's just afraid of being betrayed again, so she keeps her distance. MEMBER NAME: Summer AGE: 18 OTHER CHARACTERS: None yet. ROLEPLAY SAMPLE "Sister, wait!" called a voice. Of course it was Tsubaru. "I'll call you later," she told the other girls. "Man, I'm so glad I don't have a brother to deal with..." said one of Melina's friends. "I mean, my sister's a pest, but she's older than me, so I don't have to worry about her." "Whatever. See you tomorrow Mel!" said the other girl. "I have to help out at the store." "I've got to work on that math homework... Well, see ya!" Melina waved as her friends walked away, waiting for her brother to catch up to where she stood at the gate. "Jeez Tsubaru, you're so slow," Mel muttered, shaking her head. "C'mon, I can almost smell mom's rice balls from here." She took his hand, his small fingers almost completely concealed within her palm. It was only a few minutes later before they were at the railroad tracks. "Sis, when do the trains come through?" he asked as she went across. "Oh, only every few hours. There's never a train when we get out, they do that on purpose so no one's crossing the tracks when a train comes by." "Okay!" the boy said as he jumped over. Just then, the ground began to shake and roll beneath their feet, knocking Tsubaru to the ground. He didn't move, just watched as Melina got knocked over too. The bars holding the tracks down began to bend, and then one of them snapped. The ground rolled under the tracks, causing the metal to curve and warp, snapping the supports out completely. The quake lasted for what felt like a long time, the two of them just sitting there until it stopped. Melina stood and held out a hand to her brother, pulling him to his feet. "Let's get home!" she said, and he nodded. They both started running, passing a huge hole in the ground. There was a boy near the hole, with a strange red dinosaur-looking creature next to him. "Drimogimon got away again..." the boy growled as they ran past. Melina filed the name away for later, and the siblings kept running. They slowed when they saw the destruction that had befallen their neighborhood, and Melina began to pray that their home had survived. But no luck. Their home wasn't standing either. But their father was, and he wrapped his arms around his two children when they came running at him. They stayed in a hotel that night, and before sunset the same day rescue squads were working on freeing trapped people from their homes. |
