Edward O'Conner
Edward O'Conner Seventeen Noble Eddie Courage Veemon - Patamon - Monodramon FACE CLAIM: Misaki Yata ANIMANGA: K-Project GENDER: Male HEIGHT: 5'11" WEIGHT: 155 lbs. APPEARANCE Edward is a short, male teenager with spiky, brushed-down chestnut hair and large, hazel eyes. His bangs are generally pushed away from his face with just a few strands left hanging over his forehead. His attire consists of a long-sleeved, white V-neck shirt with blue lining, a red sweater tied around his waist, dark green shorts, black socks and blue-and-gold sneakers. Underneath his shirt is a loose, black tank top. He wears a black beanie over his head and a pair of wireless headphones around his neck. PERSONALITY Edward is decidedly stubborn and strong-willed, frequently letting his emotions and vindictiveness get the better of him. He is largely hostile toward figures of authority and feels little incentive to follow orders with which he disagrees. Edward is also rather quick-tempered, and has a reputation for being foul-mouthed and an incurably sarcastic cynic, only too happy to bluntly and harshly relieve others of their comfortable delusions regarding reality, or their own self-importance. However, for those few people who have made an impact on him, Ed shows his deeper nature to be one of marked selflessness, unflinching loyalty and great compassion. Edward cannot ignore the true suffering of others and becomes sympathetic upon sensing pain and resolve in people's hearts. Though his solemn advice to such people is often tempered with brusque criticism, it is only because he genuinely wishes to place them on the most direct path forward. He stresses the necessity of people taking responsibility for their own errors. Though he will intervene on behalf of the oppressed if he concludes that a situation has called for it, Edward tends to help only those with the will - but not the means - to help themselves, in which case his recklessness and disdain for authority often has him bending the rules to dole out a Robin Hood-esque justice, becoming somewhat of a protector of the unprotected. In addition, he possesses a genius-level intellect which he makes little use of. He continually yearns for something greater, something more fulfilling, yet he does not know what exactly he searches for, and lacks both the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to make a difference in his life. He views the mundane routines of everyday life beneath him, and not worth the effort. Many people have told him that he has remarkable potential, but he lives in a constant state of self-doubt (at least in this area of his personality) because he has absolutely nothing to show for it. Although many things come naturally easy to him, he has grown so accustomed to the ease that he views this as normal, and not anything out of the ordinary. LIKES - Music, especially Hip Hop - Macaroni And Cheese - Baked goods - Animals - Competition - Coming to the rescue DISLIKES - Spiders - Bullies - Injustice - Authority - And most importantly, onions HISTORY Born to an only child to a computer engineer (father) and an English professor (mother) in London, UK, Edward was a seemingly normal cheerful child. Even at a young age, Terrance and Olivia O'Conner knew their son was something special. His ability to understand and learn concepts was far beyond what was considered normal for his age. Excited to raise their assumingly genius child, Edward was thrown into the best schools London had to offer. Through the years of primary schooling, to his parents dismay, Edward's grades weren't as high as they expected. While his tests showed an incredible innate intelligence, his overall grades showed otherwise. Teachers reported a lack of focus, interest, and motivation. School work and home work were rarely completed and it always seemed like he was never paying any sort of attention in any of his classes, yet he'd still manage to pass somehow. At the age of 11, Oliver's father was offered a high paying job in Japan as head software engineer at a prominent international company. Hoping a change of scenery would help inspire something in his son, the O'Conners made their move. However, as years continued to pass, it was becoming more and more apparent that perhaps Edward was just another victim to wasted potential. Years of hanging out on the streets and arcade, followed closely by conflict with his parents and teachers further cemented this seed of self-doubt about his worth into his mind, and further sent him into disarray. He knew deep down that he could, possibly, become something great, but any sort of aspiration was crippled by this confusion and uncertainty. As he and his class graduated high school, his classmates moved on to greater things. Edward, however, didn't. Moving from job to job and spending most of his time and money pursuing generally unfullfilling things, Edward found himself at a crossroad where he was unable to decide where to go. A destiny for greatness possibly halted by an inability to find it. The world around him was falling apart as monsters began to arise, surprisingly enough coinciding with his own world falling apart within. Perhaps there was a place somewhere in this crazy mess for him, he only needed a little help to see it. MEMBER NAME: Laughter AGE: 26 OTHER CHARACTERS: No one. ROLEPLAY SAMPLE It was always kind of a bummer when he was summoned by his superiors. It was not because he disliked his career in particular, but because these kind of meetings usually lead to bothersome quarrels and confrontations. The kind of stuff he personally tried to avoid, but when the higher ups call, you best make sure you show up. And so there he reluctantly was, waiting for the moment until everything was all set and done and he could return to his own ship. Saito had momentarily disappeared into the depths of the ship in search of that particular area to satisfy his gluttonous pleasures. However, after an extensive search, he came up empty handed. " Trounced again. Sigh " The pop and hiss of the igniting match followed the momentary illumination of the room around him as he slowly made his way up stairs towards the upper deck. The orange flower bloomed brilliantly as it neared the tip of the cigarette held between twin pale tiers; it's very being being drawn in from the soft inhale. Smoke filled the space in front of his face as he reached the door that separated the darkened bowels of the ship from the outside. An affirmative push was all it took for the door to swing open. His right eyelid involuntarily shifted shut as the sun bathed him in it's heat and light. He wasn't entirely aware of what was going on, but it had seemed that he had unfortunately appeared during a confrontation of an unknown level of intensity. It was hard for someone of his empathetic abilities to not feel the tension in the air, but he wasn't one to get involved in such ridiculous activities. Instead, he simply sat legs crossed a few feet away from the main mast of which the crow's nest crowned. No words escaped him, only the exhale of a thick cloud of exhaust. |
