Nathaniel Ainsworth
Nathaniel Matthias Ainsworth Twenty-six Nefarious Nate, Nathan Crest (mod will fill out) Renamon, Gomamon, Armadillomon FACE CLAIM: Legolas ANIMANGA: Lord of the Rings GENDER: Male HEIGHT: Five feet, seven inches WEIGHT: One-hundred-seventy-eight pounds APPEARANCE Nathaniel is pretty easy to pick out of a crowd. He has long golden blond hair that tumbles down to about halfway down his back. Most of this he usually keeps pinned back out of his face or tucked behind his ears, carefully maintained so that it will be silky soft and smooth to the touch. His eyes are the lightest color of blue, akin to very pure sapphires held sparkling under a lamp or the sky on the clearest of days. His skin, the visible part anyway, is fair and pale, the result of staying inside for his job as a musician. If one were to glance at him without his shirt, however, they'd be in shock. Large portions of his back are covered in faint scars, the result of his father's discipline in his younger days and his own failure to treat the wounds properly. As far as clothing goes, however, Nathaniel is fairly predictable. He likes to wear brown slacks or brown corduroy pants, along with a pair of plain brown Converses, disliking the tightness of dress shoes and thus only wearing them when forced to for propriety's sake. He's fond of green or blue shirts, usually button-up and long-sleeve, and sometimes he'll wear a long dark green jacket to keep himself warm. He usually goes without jewelry, but if any is present, it takes the form of a small silver brooch of a leaf that his brother Gabriel purchased for him as a present and that he views as a token of good luck and thus only breaks out for special occasions where he thinks he needs to be lucky. HISTORY Nathaniel was born in the state of Maine inside of the United States, but despite into a situation that was by no means ideal. His parents fought a lot, and some of his earliest memories were of when he was four and five, cowering in the back of a closet while his parents shouted and screamed and threw things at each other. His mother was a lower-class woman who battled with kleptomania; his father was an ex-patriot who had seen war and came from a wealthier family. One of the young boy's few escapes was to be found in the room of the house with the small piano, sometimes left to devise songs of his own making while other times his father would come in and teach him to play. It was something that distracted him from the fighting, which made the task found so odious to most children quite delightful for the young blond. He was nine when his world shifted. His mother gave birth to another child, a young boy named Gabriel. At first, Nathaniel was rather bitter, retreating into himself with his new-found instrument, the flute. But as Gabriel began to grow up and the shouts began to echo off the walls of the house once more, the elder sibling softened and would take his younger brother out, away from things, and show him the way that he was beginning to learn the harp and the flute. He didn't want the younger to suffer the same childhood that he had. He wanted Gabriel to experience love from someone, even if that someone was only him. To the elder's horror, however, when he was fourteen, he walked in on his mother getting intimate with some strange woman he didn't know. He slammed the door, trembling hard, and it took him only a moment to take his brother and leave the house for a while. He was shocked and hurt, even if he wasn't surprised by the fact that his mother had proven unfaithful with another woman nonetheless, and it was something that ended up alienating him from the female sex. Still, he kept his silence, if only to try to keep Gabriel with some semblance of a family. When he was sixteen and Gabriel seven, things finally came to a point where they could not recover. Their parents had finally decided to get a divorce, and after some three months of petty squabbling, it was decided that Gabriel would go with their mother and Nathaniel their father. Nathaniel promised his brother than they wouldn't lose touch, and he kept his word, calling whenever he could. But what he didn't tell his younger brother was that things in the house he lived in were far worse than they appeared. His father had found some of Nathaniel's reading material, and since it featured two males being intimate, he thought that his son was homosexual. Not that he was wrong in his assumption, but the way that he reacted was violent. He began to beat his son, thinking that the old-fashioned discipline would "fix" his "no-good broken son", and since Nathaniel hardly knew how to take care of injuries, most of the time they would leave marks. The man remarried when the elder sibling was seventeen, and the stepmother and stepsisters went out of their way to torment him with the fact that his mother had turned to prostitution and his younger brother to a life of crime. The day Nathaniel turned eighteen, he grabbed his things and walked out the door. He searched for Gabriel and his mother, finding the latter at some strip club. When he asked about his sibling, he found out - to his shock and horror - that the woman had abandoned Gabriel and that the boy was now in a juvenile detention center. He didn't even rise to the taunts she threw at him in a drunken slur, instead rushing to the detention center and bailing Gabriel out from the holding cell. Apparently the boy had been caught stealing from a man and then pulled a knife on the guy before being arrested by an off-duty cop; Gabriel was horrified to find that his brother had fallen so low, and he immediately sprung into action. He already had a small job working as a musician and a bus boy, so when he presented his case to the social worker, he managed to prove himself a worthy enough guardian to take his sibling away from their parents. As soon as he was given the chance to, he decided to leave the United States, instead relocating to Japan since he was offered a small job for doing consultation work as a musician for some small-time gaming company. He wanted to make it more inconvenient for his parents to find them, not that he thought they would. His father had been more than happy enough to toss several hundred thousand dollars at his eldest son in the form of a trust fund if it meant that he would go away and leave him to his new family. Things went on in quite a peaceful way as time went on. Nathaniel worked as a musician, getting better paying jobs and positions performing for restaurants, social events, and local artists, and he'd return home to his little brother. They were already living in an apartment in Tokyo when the Digital World intruded upon the real one, but Nathaniel didn't mind. He would shrug and just say that there wasn't a whole lot they could do to change things. It's only been recently that he's since taken in a weak Digimon as his own, letting it stay in the house and befriend him before it told him that he was its Tamer and gave him his Digivice. He's not told Gabriel about that last part though yet. With his heart in the place that it is, well... he just doesn't think he has it in him to tell his sibling that he doesn't believe the world deserves to be saved. Not really.
