So Long Sentiment's Plot
It's been seven years since people thought the tamers defeated parasimon.
Two of which were spent in peace.
It started out slowly... small changes that people didn't seem to notice at first. The Aurora Borealis began to shine at night along the equator. Cellphones began having strange interference, an odd static followed by anonymous text messages with no number. Power outages with no explanation spread wide across the countries, lasting from seconds to minutes before returning as quickly as it left.
But as the months passed, things progressively got worse. People began to disappear with no word, missing for weeks before coming back with no recollection of memory. Entire cities began to fade off the map, returning with their citizens having no idea what had happened – having gone about their normal lives unaware. Strange prints were found crossing farmlands and wide open areas, monstrous claw marks left on trees, rocks and monuments, now defaced with these marks.
And before anybody knew what happened, the first city was lost. The city of Hong Kong.
Sirens blared as people ran screaming. Military scrambled as quickly as they could, but their efforts were lost - each ship, plane and tank taken down without a second thought by these creatures… these monsters. Buildings fell and fires raged, leaving millions dead – the creatures relenting only when the city and its defenses had fallen – their destruction complete in only a few hours, finally pulling the world’s attention.
All across the world, screens of computers, televisions and cellphones turned to static – all calls were cut off, all internet was gone… and a single form appeared on each screen, one that the people could only describe as a demon… and the last thing anyone expected, was for it to talk.
“Humans… now that we have your attention, I will make this short and to the point, so even your simple minds can comprehend.
I am known as Millenniummon… My kind are not demons, angels nor gods… we are much worse. We are known as Digimon. But… some of you already know this. There are some among you who partner with traitors of my kind… fighting a futile war they can not win!
Hear me now, tamers… We will find you… one by one… and kill you all… and we won’t hesitate to commit genocide and destroy any city that stands in our way…
We’re here for this world… it will become one with our own…
Those who join us will receive grace, a seat next to the throne… those who stand against us… will fall.
There’s no point in resisting.
You can’t stop us.
You can’t win.
This war… starts now.”
With a sharp crackle of static, the images disappeared – phone lines and internet returning, leaving the world to fall into panic. Leaders of nations, regardless of friend or foe prior to this event, gathered to talk, a sharp debate rising. Who were these tamers… if discovered, were they to be executed to prevent more enemies from arising? No… the monster had stated them as enemies… partnered with traitors… they had to be allies.
But that seemed to be the least of everyone’s worries as the main problem was brought up.
How would these monsters be stopped… or in the very least… how could they be slowed down.
As the days passed, the debate still heated, the conference continuing with no clear sign of an end – tamers slowly started appearing, no need to hide now that they had been revealed. The list began to grow… and with the rising tally, one member within the conference stood, his confidence strengthened by the numbers. Revealing that he too was a tamer in his time, he reassured the conference that the tamers certainly were not their enemy… and he proposed an idea.
Build walls around major cities, pull the populations within those walls… and have tamers protect the walls.
With skepticism… the idea was accepted, the majority of the conference still unsure of whether the tamers could be trusted or not… but with no better idea, what could they do?
Within a month, the project began. Millions of people moved from their rural and small town homes into the cities as the walls grew… and as they grew, so did the number of tamers – digimon leaving their world to find human partners. As it were, news had not only spread across earth, but also the digital world… and resistance grew there as well.
Within five years, the walls stood tall and strong as surrounding areas fell, the number of tamers dwelling around a few thousand – spread all across the world, stationed at each wall to protect them – so far, the plan seems to be working, rarely does a wall and it’s city fall. But it’s not unheard of.
The two worlds are slowly merging, whether we like it or not. The infection, as human kind has dubbed it, is slowly consuming everything, turning the landscape into something almost alien… so far, only Japan seems to be affected… but who knows how long this will last and how long it will take to set things right. If we can.
Nobody knows who sent them, but we know why they're here.
They want our world to become one with theirs - an absolute chaos.
And whether everyone trusts us tamers or not...
We're the only ones standing in their way.
